Jimmie has an appointment with an occupational therapist tomorrow at Children's Mercy. Rachael and Justin have *not* had much success feeding Jimmie by mouth. Especially with a nipple. I did watch him eat some rice cereal today and do pretty well, but he is not taking most of his nutrition by mouth.
I'll update more tomorrow after his appointment. Keep praying for this boy! There just isn't any outward reason anymore for him not to suck and swallow. Yet he won't.
Eat Jimmie eat! Go Jimmie go.
Love,
Amber
We'll keep praying! We love you all!!!

Praying for a quick, simple resolution...and all feeds by mouth!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI discovered you blog from an accidental click on you tube and have spent the last two days reading your wonderful blog. It brings back a lot of raw emotion for me as my son was a two month early preemie with eating issues as well. I don't want to go into a lot of details except to say we fought failure to thrive for close to two years. We did discover that he was allergic to anything made with water. GO FIGURE? WATER? So we ended up mixing a cocktail of full milk and vitamins together with yogurt and rice cereal which seemed to really help. Then, one day around the two year mark, the reflux disappeared and he began to eat...A LOT!!!We actually have him on a diet now low in carbs high in protein because he put on TOO much weight very quickly. He didn't ever realize he was full. The nerve's in his tummy burned out because of the constant reflux and it took about 3 years more for them to get back to normal, but now he is my lil chunker butts that knows when he is full. There is hope that it will even out. We made it without the g tube surgery and the fund. Most of all, we made it to 8 years old and perfect. I know its so hard, frustrating and crazy. The ups downs and sheer terror of sliding back. This to shall pass, cast your worries on God for he has none, and he will carry them for you. Lynne
