Dear Jimmie-Happy Three Month Birthday

Dear Jimmie,

Happy 3 month Birthday! You have had an AMAZING 3rd month!

This is you right after you were born.

This is you at 1 month.

This is you at 2 months

And this is you today!

Look at how you have grown next to your Rottweiler Puppy!

And look how you've grown in your father's hands!

You have hit the 4 pound and the 5 pound mark. You have gained 19 ounces! You are 5lbs 2oz!

You have grown 3 and 1/4 inches in length! You are 18 inches long!

Your head circumference has increased by 1 inch! Your head is 12 inches around.

You were moved back onto an oxygen cannula from the hood and are on 1/8 liter of flow.

You achieved taking all of your feeds by mouth this month! That was a lot of hard work for you. You were so strong Jimmie. You have a lot of perseverance in such a small body. You love to breastfeed, but will also take a bottle. Your mommy breastfeeds you 4 times and you take a bottle 4 times in a 24 hour period. You have to have the bottles so you can drink the fatty fortifier. You are now taking up to 60ml! That's 28ml more than last month!

You had your 2nd eye exam and the Doctor is optimistic that your ROP will not need intervention. You have stage 1 in Zone 2. The Doctor will check on your eyes again soon.

You had your big MRI this month and your brain and nasal passages looked healthy and perfect! No PVL- (Periventricular leukomalacia). This is the most common type of brain injury in babies like you Jimmie. Even though you had all 3 risk factors: 1)You born at less than 32 weeks' gestation in your 24th week. 2)You had birth weight of less than 1500 g. (You were 690 grams) 3)And your momma had an infection called chorioamnionitis that you fought off after birth- you beat the odds and your brain is healthy!

You have 86 followers on your blog! (6 more than last time) And your Faithfulness Video Montage has been viewed 1749 times! That's 700 views this month.

We remembered and honored your sister Gracie's birthday this past month- April 19th. She is resting in peace in our Holy Father's arms. Your mommy and daddy and family and friends walked in our first March For Babies for you and Gracie. Next year you'll be there riding in your stroller!

But BY FAR the BIGGEST thing you did this month Jimmie was - you went home to live with your mommy and daddy!

We are all blown away by you. The Doctors said it is VERY rare that a 24 weeker can go home before their due date. You did this Jimmie with 3 weeks to spare!

Some special friends that we haven't seen or talked to for years found your blog online and have been following and praying for you! And guess what?? They now live in Odessa where you do Jimmie! Here is what they did in honor of your homecoming!

We are so filled with joy at your homecoming Jimmie. You came home Saturday, May 9th the day before Mother's Day! We- Grandpa and Grandma Gravitt, Ma EuDaly, Uncle David and me-Auntie Amber, Cole, Uncle Eric and (soon to be) Auntie Rachel all gathered in your home to celebrate.

Here you are laying on the couch!

On Mother's Day Pa and Ma EuDaly and GGPa and GGMa EuDaly visited you. Here is GGMa looking at how cute and sweet and BIG you are! I believe the last time she saw you in person was in the NICU and you were not even 2lbs yet.

You had a staring contest with your puppy today. (-:

And you sat in your swing for the first time.

Jimmie you can not imagine the joy and relief in your parents hearts and the hearts of your family that you have thrived and done so well despite the tragedy of such an early birth. The amazing feeling of you being home with your mommy and daddy where you belong is simply indescribable! The Lord is your Shepherd Jimmie. Our Holy Father has blessed you. You have moved mountains, you have hinds feet on high places, goodness and mercy are following you everywhere! I am so blessed and proud to be your Auntie- my small, but mighty hero!

Love you forever,
Auntie Amber

  9. What a wonderful record of Jimmie's life! Thank you, Auntie Amber for all your hard work and faithfulness in keeping us all included in Justin, Rachael and Jimmie's journey. When I get upin the morning, I cannot wait to log on to see if there is any news on Jimmie.

I can't wait to hear how Rachael is doing now that she gets to sleep in her own bed and use her own kitchen again.

    Our prayers continue.....

  12. Ya, he is home I new he would be soon and Jimmie planned it that away to be home by Mother's Day and if he hadn't come out early he probably would have been born on Mother's Day so either way I look at it there was something about that day for him. We hope to see him soon or at least when he gets use to the home life and getting a little stronger. Glad to see everything is going go and the two of you are well.
