Million Dollar Baby?

Not quite, more like 779,689,80. We obviously couldn't put a dollar amount on Jimmie's life, but the hospital has to. Rachael got the bill from Jimmie's stay in the NICU today. Justin and Rachael's insurance company negotiated the bill down from 779,689,80 to 407,812.11 and have billed Rachael and Justin for a whopping $200. WOW! That's cool. Although that does not include co-pays for all of the testing they did on Jimmie. The bill for Rachael's hospital stay was 60,000. They were responsible for 1,088,00 (including co-pays for testing)of that. And they are expecting to be responsible for at least another $1000 in co-pays for testing that was done on Jimmie. Rachael is under the impression that no matter what they won't have to pay more than $2000 out of pocket. But after it's all said and done even $3000 out of the whopping total bill of 839,689,80 is more than okay with Rachael and Justin. We'll see what Jimmie's co-pays turn out to be. And if it is true that there is a $2000 limit with their policy. I hope so because other wise co-pays on every single test they ran on Jimmie would be pretty overwhelming!

Rachael and Justin's attitude this whole time about money though has been- "We don't care! We'll work it out somehow." Nothing like watching your child fight for life to put things in perspective.

Rachael weighed Jimmie on her at home baby scale today and he was 6 lbs 4 oz! Go Jimmie go!

Jimmie has 3 different Doctor's appointments next week. He'll see his Pediatrician, the Neonatologist and the Eye Doctor. So next week will be busy with medical updates. Hopefully it'll all be good news. (-:

I leave you with that promised video of Jimmie's Tummy Time Tantrum.

Love,
Amber

  2. Wow!!!!! What a bill! How in the world do hospitals expect someone to pay that amount of money? I mean It's awesome that it went down to what they're going to have to pay and obviously any amount of money would be worth it to have Jimmie okay but it just irks me about hospitals...it's things like this when people don't have good insurance that ruin people financially. Love his video..he's looking great!

Praise the Lord for good medical insurance. The Lord provides and works things out. What a blessing!

  4. MAD baby! What a cutie - look how strong he is lifting his head!

He got a bill for something like $250 after my hospital bedrest and all THREE NICU stays... I laughed out loud - we are so grateful for our insurance! I actually took out some of the old EOBs and started adding them up - but it got a little emotional and overwhelming.

Looks like the BIG guy is doing well!

    Take care,
    Kara

  5. Love the video!

I remember when I got an actual bill for one of my boys' NICU stay - it actually said I had to pay the $250,000 bill! Thankfully it was an insurance mix up and we ended up only paying $2,000 out of pocket for the $800,000 our triplet's NICU stay wracked up and the close to $65,000 my pregnancy and c-section cost.
